COURTYARD HOUSE

ARCHITECT RESIDENCE
The project is located at a tropical climate in kerala, india. It is important for the house to have a cross ventilation to keep up with the humidity while also use the passive energy. On daily basis, the glass doors and window are open. The natural air breezes in to the house. And the clear glass and skylight works well to insert the natural light all day long. The  garden help to create shades inside the house

First Floor Plan
Open spaces in the context of traditional Indian houses have always played a crucial role usually seen as extensions of indoor spaces or as outdoor rooms which supported a wide variety of functions. An ideal example would be the courtyards which served as gathering spaces during the summer, while at the same time helped in controlling light and temperatures keeping the houses .cool in the hot summers.

The house, built on gentle split-levels ascends lazily from south (the highest point) to the north (lowest point). The large expanses of glass blur the spatial boundaries between the garden and the house. One experiences a sense of infinity while walking though the open plan of the house , which are demarcated from one another by sliding, bi-fold doors and in some cases no barrier at all.

Several existing big trees, which are on the north side facing to the back side, are preserved as they are to give some shades to the big garden behind them. With enough shade trees, the garden is designed to be a big swimming pool area.

The house has two entrances. The private one faces to the pool side (east side ) and the other looks on the architect office . The house is located near the quiet lane, and the home - office is located near the main road. Instead of having conventionally demarcated spaces, the house spontaneously responds to its surroundings by choosing to dwell upon lovely views from strategically placed rooms.
